RTD (Regional Transportation District), the Denver transport authority, has awarded Connex North America, the Connex subsidiary in the United States, another contract to operate a bus network in the city of Denver (United States).

This five-year operating contract starting August 1st  2005 will represent an overall turnover of 33 million euros for the duration of the contract.
The network includes 59 buses on 12 lines and will employ 165 staff.

This news comes on top of the recently won contract in Colorado to operate urban services in the city of Denver and whose operation began in January 2005 (66 buses on 13 lines).

After the acquisition of Yellow Transportation LLC at the end of 2004, Connex North America is becoming a key player in Colorado with a annual turnover of 21 millions euros, 125 buses in Denver, 22 in Boulder, 400 taxis and more than 500 employees.

In addition, Connex North America operates the rail network in the suburbs of Boston, the fifth largest network in the United States and the rail network of Los Angeles (from July 1st 2005) as well as urban and inter-urban bus networks in the cities of Washington DC, Los Angeles and in the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, Texas and North and South Carolina.

Connex, the Transport division of Veolia Environnement, operates in 25 countries and employs 56,000 people. In 2004, Connex generated a turnover of €3.6 billion. The company operates 26,000 road and rail vehicles and carries over 2 billion passengers per year.
